Jessica Golias, COTA/L, joined the Greater Therapy Centers Team in April of 2024 as a member of the Neuro Team at our Lewisville, TX location. Jessica completed her Bachelor's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology at University of North Texas - Go Mean Green! She also completed her AAS from Parker University as an Occupational Therapy Assistant and is LSVT BIG certified. This certification qualifies a therapist or therapist assistant to work closely with patients suffering from Parkinson's Disease or other neurological conditions.
Originally, Jessica planned to work as a Speech-Language Pathologist. While she enjoyed the classes and the knowledge she gained, she ultimately discovered that Occupational Therapy is her true passion. Working with the upper extremities, especially hands and Neurological conditions, is her main area of focus.
Jessica's favorite part of her job is increasing patients' quality of life and encouraging them forward. She shares, "I love showing [patients] new ways to do activities that increase their independence. I started my journey in occupational therapy when an OTR I worked with encouraged me to go back to school. I had worked with one patient who had suffered a [traumatic brain injury] and broken neck who inspired me every day. I worked with him 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. He showed up every day despite his condition and put in maximum effort. He encouraged other patients along with him. He was my inspiration."
Outside of work, Jessica spends time with her husband, family, and "menagerie of animals." She enjoys playing games, watching movies, reading, gardening, and spending time with her dogs and chickens.
