Laura Shank graduated from Maryville University of Saint Louis with her Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2013. After internship experiences varying from acute care in Kansas City, KS, inpatient rehabilitation at Jefferson Barracks VA and the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, and outpatient orthopedics in the Chicago suburbs, she decided to begin her PT career in orthopedics and sports medicine. She loves to observe and analyze movement, which she attributes to her background in dance, and draws from holistic treatment principles such as yoga and Pilates. Her favorite body part to treat is the foot and ankle, because she enjoys helping her patients improve the way they move through an emphasis on balance and proprioception.
During clinic downtime, you can find Laura furthering her knowledge by reading PT journals, and she prides herself on her extensive continuing education, including therapeutic taping, instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization, and dry needling. Outside of work, she is active with strength training, yoga, and hiking, enjoys traveling, reading, cooking and eating, especially with her husband and their 2 dogs.
